Lodi Fire Extinguishes Apartment Fire & Rescues Residents

Lodi Fire crews responded to a 3rd alarm fire on Stockton and East Locust Street Tuesday night around 8 pm. Within 15 minutes the crews had the fire under control.

Lodi Police Department was also on scene providing traffic control, assisting LFD in removing victims, and clearing residents and bystanders.

Three civilians were rescued from the second floor by our firefighters, who then administered basic life support and were able to successfully resuscitate a patient in full arrest. All patients were transported to local hospitals with good outcomes. There were 33 people displaced by the fire, and the Red Cross came in to help those residents.

Lodi Fire Supports Stockton Fire During Tragic Loss of Captain

Early Monday morning a Stockton Fire Captain, Max Fortuna, was killed on the line of duty. Chief Johnson was contacted and responded to Stockton to assess their needs and implement a plan to assist with station coverage and the logistical needs of a line of duty death. Engine 2031 responded to Stockton and was placed at Station 2 to fill the immediate need. Station 2 was the company involved in the tragic incident. A plan was developed to allow for all SFD crews to be off duty for 48 hours to assist with their grieving process. Lodi Fire, Modesto Fire, South County Fire Authority, Sacramento City Fire, Sac-Metro Fire, Cosumnes Fire, Manteca Fire, and Manteca Lathrop Fire assisted with this coverage. Lodi Fire will be participating in Captain Fortuna’s celebration of life on Tuesday (February 8). Please keep the members of the Stockton Fire Department in your thoughts and prayers.

Lodi Fire Hosts Firefighter Mental Awareness Event

Wednesday Evening the Lodi Fire Department hosted a Firefighter mental wellness event at First Baptist for all San Joaquin County Firefighters and their families. Over one hundred firefighters attended. First Alarm Wellness led the group discussion. Although this event was scheduled weeks ago, it could not have come at a better time given the tragic event that happened on Monday in Stockton. It was truly a beautiful thing seeing firefighters from all over the county grieve together and begin the healing process.

Lodi Electric - February Energy Cost Adjustment

We have good news for the February ECA. It is a credit of 0.0087/kWh and it is the second-lowest February ECA since 2009.

Thanks to the rain in December, Lodi Energy Center (LEC) performed very well to make up the needed solar energy. The LEC brought in a significant amount of revenue in December and as a result, the credits helped offset our February power supply costs by approximately 40%. As of today, the Northern Sierra precipitation is cumulated to 59% of the average water year, which means we still need more precipitation. Hopefully, we will see more rain and snow coming our way.

As baseball season is about to begin at Salas Park, the Lodi Boosters of Boys/Girls Sports (BOBS) took on the much-needed project of striping the parking lot. We appreciate our ongoing partnership with them, and we are thankful that they went above and beyond to improve our park!

Lodi Lake Docent Program

This week the Lodi Lake docents met to discuss reactivating the docent program which has been on hiatus due to the pandemic. Training and programming were discussed as well as potential partnerships with Lodi Unified School District and other school districts. The docents support visitor experiences by sharing their knowledge of the history of Lodi Lake, nature, and wildlife habitats. The docents provide tours to thousands of students and visitors annually within the 58-acre Nature Area.
