Request for Design Proposals

The City of Lodi is currently accepting proposals for original artwork to be displayed on several Traffic Control Boxes throughout Lodi.

Eligibility

Open to all practicing professional and emerging artists and design teams residing in Lodi and surrounding areas.

Project Description

The City of Lodi, with input from the Lodi Arts Commission (LAC), will select original artwork to be displayed on several traffic control boxes throughout Lodi. The Arts Commission will determine the specific location for each piece of artwork.

Award of Contract

The City reserves the right to accept or reject any or all submittals, to alter or postpone the selection process in any way for its own convenience at any time, and to waive any defects in the proposals. Work submitted by Artist must be original in content under this Call to Artists.

Each artist submitting a proposal in response to this Call acknowledges and agrees that the preparation of materials for submittal to the City and all expenses for presentations, travel and related costs are at the candidate’s sole expense and that the City shall not, under any circumstances, be responsible for any cost or expense incurred by the candidate.  In addition, each candidate acknowledges and agrees that all of the documentation, concepts and materials submitted with the Call shall remain the property of the City.

Project Design Budget

$300.00 per cabinet will be paid to selected artists, to be paid in two installments of $150.00.   Payment one will be issued after artist selection is made and payment two will be issued after completion of work.

Additional Services

The Artist may be asked, at the City’s discretion, to perform additional tasks beyond those in the scope of this Call to Artists.

Complete design proposals must be received by 5:00 pm on Thursday, July 28, 2022.

Artists are encouraged to email complete design proposals to Tamatha Litfin, Recreation Coordinator, tlitfin@lodi.gov. Label email, “Call to Artist – Traffic Control Box Art”

Incomplete proposals will not be accepted.  Regretfully, the City of Lodi cannot be responsible for lost, missing or damaged designs and/or supporting materials.
