“Helping create a Win/Win for the City of Lodi community”
The City of Lodi (“City”) Community Development Department, through its Neighborhood Services Division, has engaged in a citywide informational campaign, broadcasting information and gathering feedback instrumental to developing long-term solutions to homelessness in our City. A vital ingredient, and considered as the first component of a long-term solution, centers on the development of an Access Center. This Release is the sixth in a series to provide information about the Access Center to the Lodi community.
Public Meeting
Building on the support of our City Council, San Joaquin County, Board of Supervisors and Continuum of Care, numerous community stakeholders and the cornerstone of the Access Center concept, the Lodi Committee on Homelessness (“LCOH”), we are paving a brighter path for our unsheltered residents and the Lodi community at large. City staff, LCOH, and community volunteers have worked diligently to share information, respond to questions, and speak to individuals about an Access Center Emergency Shelter in Lodi. Community Development staff will present an update on the Access Center at the August 4, 2021 City Council Meeting including staff recommendation to approve the purchase of 710 N. Sacramento Street as the location for the Access Center based on multiple factors that will be brought forth at the meeting. The presentation will include: what an Access Center is and what it is not, statistics and data (local and national), and it will go over the City’s community engagement process. Additionally, testimonials from members of the Lodi community including formerly unsheltered, employers, and service providers will be shared.
City staff would like to take the time to thank everyone that has assisted in the engagement process including residents, business owners, LCOH, Lodi Improvement Committee, volunteers, and City and County leaders. Whether it was taking the survey, helping share information, outreach, etc. it is all vital to the process. Regardless of differing opinions or thoughts on the topic, it was truly great to see the community actively contribute in the engagement process. City staff hopes that all interested individuals will participate in the meeting on August 4, 2021.
