Lodi, Calif. – October 29, 2020 – City staff and Council are aware of the October 28 arrest of a candidate for City Council. As Americans, we hold strongly the Constitutional principal that individuals are innocent until proven guilty. As such, the candidate has not lost any constitutional right to run for and hold office, as a result of the arrest.
Staff and Council understand that the arrest has raised many additional questions. However, as a matter of policy, the City does not and will not in this instance comment on the ongoing criminal proceedings or any potential repercussions. Staff will continue to monitor the proceedings and comment as appropriate.
