San Joaquin Fair Housing

The San Joaquin Fair Housing Association is a non-profit agency established in 1983 to serve the citizens of San Joaquin County. services are provided to the community free of charge and funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program provided by San Joaquin County and the cities of Stockton, Tracy, Lodi, Manteca, Lathrop, Ripon and Escalon.

Services Provided:

Information on tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities.

Mediation: mediation as an alternative to resolve housing issues for tenants, property management, and owners. This service is free of charge and is provided in an attempt to avoid the costly and time-consuming court system.

Training: training to landlords and tenants. Landlord training includes fair housing laws and basic property management including tenant screening, rental agreements, proper notices and compliance with landlord/tenant laws. We also offer training for tenants including how to locate rentals, proper notices to landlords, getting repairs done and tenant obligations.

Counseling: counseling for landlords and tenants. Our counselors are available to help both landlords and tenants to better understand their rights and responsibilities concerning their rental units.

Foreclosure Prevention & Assistance

While the City of Lodi does not have funding directly to provide assistance to homeowners dealing with foreclosure, it does refer homeowners to agencies who provide a variety of services and assistance to homeowners who are in or at risk of foreclosure.
