SolarAPP+
Licensed Contractors can now use SolarAPP+ for real-time rooftop solar permitting in the City of Lodi.
1. Eligibility to use SolarAPP+
- Main Dwelling Rooftop, Permitted, Residential structures only.
- No Ballasted Systems.
- Any changes to Main Service Panel requires a separate application, permit and fees.
- Located in City of Lodi jurisdiction.
- Must be a licensed contractor that has previously registered with SolarAPP+
- Permit Runners are not allowed to request SolarAPP+ permits.

2. Submit for Automated Review Through SolarAPP+
- Must obtain pre-approval from Lodi Electric Utility
- Submit your design to solarapp.nrel.gov .
- Click Login or Register to get started.
- A $25 processing fee will be charged by the SolarAPP+ website.

4. Apply for Permit
- Apply for your building permit through the City of Lodi online permit portal
- For information on how to register for an account contact comdev@lodi.gov or call (209)333-6714.
- From the HOME SCREEN, select Apply/New Permit
- Agree to the acknowledgement
- Complete all application information
- Required information is as follows:
- Select SolarApp PV as the permit type
- Select Solar Only or Solar with Battery Backup
- Add notes if relevant
- Enter the job value
- Enter the Lodi Electric Utility Pre-Approval #.
- Enter NREL Approval #
- Enter PV system KW
- Enter amperage of busbar at Main Service Panel
- Enter quantity of subpanels
- Prepare to attach the required documents
- Enter correct jobsite address
- Upload ALL required documents
- Select “Next Step”
- Verify/Complete Contractor/Owner and Applicant Information
- Review information and verify required documents have been attached
- Pay fees.
- Print Permit documents.
- All submittals will be verified for accuracy. If information is incomplete or inaccurate, additional fees may incur prior to inspection.
4. Getting an Inspection
- Have your Construction ePermit printed and available on-site for an inspector.

5. SolarAPP+ Revisions
- Must obtain pre-approval from Lodi Electric Utility
- Submit your revision to solarapp.nrel.gov, you will be provided with a downloadable revised SolarAPP+ Approval Document.
- Contact a Permit Technician at City of Lodi Building Department (209) 333-6714 and request a revision to your existing permit. Staff will look up the status of the existing permit to determine whether a revision can be made or if a new permit is required and will provide further instructions. Additional fees will apply.
