The City of Lodi contracts with Waste Management to provide residential and commercial garbage collection, transportation and disposal as well as the collection of recyclable materials. The City's three cart collection system is designed to reduce the amount of trash sent to our landfills. Garbage is collected weekly. Recycling and yard and garden waste will be collected on alternating weeks. Recycle/green waste schedule
Many of the items in your home can be considered hazardous substances because of their chemical nature. Many of these substances can poison, corrode, explode or ignite if improperly handled. It is ILLEGAL to dispose of these household hazardous items in the trash, down storm drains or onto the ground. Examples of household hazardous waste include such items as chlorine bleach, oven cleaner, floor polish, motor oil, pool chemicals. Most of these items will be accepted at the Household Hazardous Waste Consolidation Facility located at 7850 South R.A. Bridgeford Street in Stockton, CA. As of February 9, 2006, Universal Waste items are no longer allowed in the trash. Examples of Universal Waste include items such as mercury thermometers, household batteries, cell phones, fluorescent lamps, telephones and answering machines. Annual Curbside Clean-Up Collection Event
Waste Management provides an annual curbside collection event for the City of Lodi residents. This event held every spring gives residents a chance to dispose of items free of charge. Items are limited to the equivalent of six 38-gallon refuse carts. All items must be bagged, bundled, boxed or containerized and weigh less than fifty pounds each. All items to be disposed of must be at the curb, directly in front of the residence. Unaccepted items include but are not limited to dirt, concrete, liquids, toxic or hazardous materials, CRT’s and large heavy metals. Waste Management will notify all residents of the schedule indicating the dates of the event. Any questions regarding this program can be directed to Waste Management at (209) 369-8274.
Annual Dump Day
Waste Management provides at its transfer station an Annual Dump Day. This event held in the spring allows customers within the Lodi city limits to bring a car, truck or trailer (not to exceed two (2) cubic yards) load of refuse to the transfer station at a reduced fee. Proof of residency is required and some items will not be accepted such as dirt, concrete, tires, liquids, toxic or hazardous materials, CRT’s and large heavy metals.
