The Lodi Police Department takes pride in announcing that E.K. “Bud” Shropshire, a Lodi Police Partner was chosen as the California Peace Officers Association (CPOA) Volunteer of the Year for Northern California. This was the first annual volunteer award presented at the CPOA Coordinator and Volunteer Training Conference held in Pleasant Hill, California on Saturday, March 20, 2004. Over 100 law enforcement volunteers and coordinators were present for the ceremony.
Thirteen nominations were received from law enforcement agencies throughout California. Shropshire was chosen to receive this award for Northern California his outstanding service to the City of Lodi through the Lodi Police Partners Volunteer Program. The presentation was made during the closing ceremony of the conference by CPOA Deputy Director Vicky Kirk.
Shropshire joined the Lodi Police Volunteers in 1999. He works weekly on patrols, responds to emergency call outs, and assists with numerous special events and assignments. Bud has donated over 2,000 hours to the community through Partners over the past five years. Bud also was the recipient of the Lodi Police Department “Chief’s Award” in 2003 for his exemplary service to the community.
