Threat Assessment in Schools Seminar


The California Peace Officers’ Association, Region IV in cooperation with the United States Secret Service, San Diego Sheriff’s Department and the Lodi Police Department is presenting a Threat Assessment in Schools seminar on March 25, 2003.  The seminar will be presented to law enforcement officers, school officials, and mental health providers throughout the Central Valley and Mountain areas.


This seminar will focus on:

¨      Concept of targeted violence,

¨      Current approaches to evaluating risk,

¨      Principles of treat assessment as a better means to evaluate risk of target violence in schools,

¨      Findings from a study of the pre-incident thinking and behaviors of school shooters in the United States in the past 25 years,

¨      An in-depth review on the Santana High School and Granite Hills High School shootings, and what can be learned from those incidents, and

¨      Preparing for violent incidents on school campuses.


The seminar will be held at the Hutchins Street Square Theatre, 125 South Hutchins Street, Lodi, California.  It will be a full day seminar commencing at 8:30 AM.
