Groundbreaking Ceremony for the
Lower Sacramento Road South Widening Project
This upcoming project is a segment of the Measure K funded improvements of the Lower Sacramento Road corridor from Woodbridge to Stockton. The project will widen Lower Sacramento Road between Kettleman Lane and Harney Lane from two lanes to four lanes. The project includes constructing drainage pipes and structures; medians with raised curbs and landscaping and a new traffic signal at future Century Boulevard. Lower Sacramento Road will be closed for construction from June 6 until October 6 from the south boundary of the Sunwest Plaza Shopping Center to Harney Lane.
The $3.5 million project is funded 80% by Measure K (1/2 cent transportation sales tax) and local development impact fees. It is a cooperative project between City of Lodi and San Joaquin County. George Reed Co., Inc. of Lodi is the contractor on the widening project.
Additional contracts will be awarded later this year for the landscaping work, Century Boulevard extension, and improvements to Lower Sacramento Road south of Harney Lane. All told, there will be substantial construction activity in this area for the next several months.
The groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 10 at 10:00 a.m. The location for this ceremony will be at 2350 S. Lower Sacramento Road which is the future DeBenedetti Park site. Representatives from the City and San Joaquin Council of Governments will be on hand to speak at the ceremony followed by the traditional “groundbreaking”. Many others will be in attendance to show their support for this project. Any questions regarding the groundbreaking can be directed to Rebecca Areida, 333-6706.
