Grape Bowl Ad Hoc Committee Surveys Residents

The city of Lodi's ad hoc Grape Bowl committee will solicit the opinions of local residents on what to do with Grape Bowl stadium by sending out a survey in Saturday's editions of the News-Sentinel and on this web site.

Parks and Recreation Director Tony Goehring said the survey should give committee members a better idea of what residents would like to see done with the stadium and perhaps prompt another public meeting to discuss the 66-year-old stadium.

Goehring said the city is sending out 10,000 surveys and will give people until May 15 to fill out and return them.

Faced with a slew of expensive repairs to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act and other safety issues, the city is trying to figure out if the stadium should be demolished, repaired or if there are other options for the structure.

The committee held a public meeting on the stadium earlier this month.

Surveys will also be available at the Parks and Recreation office located at 125 N. Stockton St.
