Lodi, CA  The fourth annual Celebration on Central is scheduled for May 18, 2003, from noon to 3 p.m. on Lodi’s Central Avenue, between Eden Street and Lodi Avenue.

The Community Partnership for Families of San Joaquin (CPF) is a collaboration of public and private agencies working together to engage all the available resources in our community to ensure that children and families can lead healthy and productive lives.  In 1998, a group of community leaders came together and developed a plan for making existing resources more easily accessible to families through the development of neighborhood service centers. Here in Lodi, the organization began by sponsoring “Celebration on Central”, a

Sunday afternoon gathering of agencies and organizations in the heart of our eastside community.  During this first event, families were entertained, fed (over 1000 pounds of food was given away), received health screenings, were educated on available services, and surveyed regarding needs and concerns for their neighborhood.

CPF has since collaborated with the City of Lodi to sponsor two more events, each attracting an estimated 5000 to 6000 people, providing free health screenings for over 500 (Kaiser Permanente), free animal vaccines (Animal Friends Connection), quality children’s activities, entertainment, and food (literally, a ton, donated by the Greater Stockton Emergency Food Bank)

A special thanks to the many volunteers and sponsors that make this event possible.  This year's sponsors include First 5 San Joaquin, F&M Bank, General Mills, Health Plan of San Joaquin, Kaiser Permanente, Lodi Electric Utility, Local Child Care Planning Council, and the East Side Improvement Committee.
