Nominations for City Council Positions Begin
Lodi citizens interested in filing nomination papers for the position of City Council Member may do so beginning Monday, July 15. The terms of Council Members Susan Hitchcock, Alan Nakanishi, and Phillip Pennino are those that are expiring.
Appointments to obtain instructions on and receive nomination papers can be made through the City Clerk’s office at City Hall, 221 W. Pine Street, 2nd Floor, (209) 333-6702. The filing deadline is Friday, August 9, at 5:00 p.m.
Note: If an incumbent has not filed by August 9, the deadline for filing nomination papers will be extended to August 14, at 5:00 p.m.
To qualify, a candidate must be a registered voter of the City of Lodi at the time nomination papers are issued. The term of office for members of the City Council is four years. Those elected will begin their terms on December 4, 2002.
The City Council meets every Tuesday morning at 7:00 a.m. for informal informational meetings (Shirtsleeve Sessions); and the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. for regular meetings. Citizens are encouraged to attend.
