Nominations for City Council Positions Begin

Lodi citizens interested in filing nomination papers for the position of City Council Member may do so beginning Monday, July 17. The terms of Council Members Keith Land and Stephen J. Mann are those that are expiring.

Appointments to obtain instructions on and receive nomination papers can be made through the City Clerk’s office at City Hall, 221 W. Pine Street, 2^nd Floor, (209) 333-6702. The filing deadline is Friday, August 11, at 5:00 p.m.. (Note: If incumbents fail to file by August 11, the deadline for filing nomination papers will be extended to August 16, at 5:00 p.m.)

To qualify, a candidate must have been a resident and qualified elector of the City of Lodi for at least 29 days prior to filing nomination papers. All applicants must be at least 18 years old. The term of office for members of the City Council is four years. Those elected will begin their terms on December 6, 2000.

The City Council meets every Tuesday morning at 7:00 a.m. for informal informational meetings (Shirtsleeve Sessions); and the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. for regular meetings. Citizens are encouraged to attend.
