Starting Monday, Turner Road will be closed between Mills Avenue and Lower Sacramento Road at the General Mills entrance for two weeks to allow Union Pacific Railroad to perform track maintenance and repairs.
The closure is scheduled to begin at 5 a.m. Monday, June 6, and last until 5 a.m. on Monday, June 20, weather permitting.
Union Pacific has notified the City it will be working on the rails leading into the General Mills plant as well as those crossing Turner Road at Mills Avenue.
(June 15 UPDATE: Union Pacific notified the City its timeline has been delayed one day. Turner Road is now scheduled to open June 21)
Motorists are advised to use Elm Street between Ham Lane and Lower Sacramento Road as a detour. Mills Avenue is not available for a detour as it is closed through July to allow for the installation of a water pipeline connecting the future water treatment plant to the City's drinking water system.
