For two weeks beginning Monday, Dec. 7, the Nature Area at Lodi Lake Park will be closed during business hours for trail repairs and maintenance.
JAN. 4 UPDATE: The Nature Area will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 5, through Friday, Jan. 8 for maintenance work. The 58-acre Nature Area will reopen to the public Saturday.
DEC. 21 UPDATE: The Nature Area will remain open to the public at least through the New Year's weekend. The temporary closure to address maintenance issues will be scheduled in January.
The Nature Area will close while crews are at work from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, weather permitting. The trail will be cleaned and prepared for public use after each shift, with the trail open to the public briefly on weekdays before the normal closure at dusk.
Work scheduled the week of Dec. 7-11 includes clearing and trimming vegetation to prepare the site for the following week. Dec. 14-18, earth-moving equipment will make modifications in the park to prevent Mokelumne River seepage from further damaging the decomposed granite trail. Wet weather could delay the schedule.
The Nature Area will be open to the public during normal park hours on weekends.
The project is a joint effort by the City of Lodi and the Woodbridge Irrigation District.
