Union Pacific Railroad will be temporarily closing seven Lodi street crossings between April 27 and May 14 for rail maintenance work.
Downtown Lodi streets will be most affected by the schedule, with five of the seven crossings between Lockeford Street and Lodi Avenue.
Motorists can bypass the work on nearby streets, or use Turner Road or Kettleman Lane (which pass underneath railroad bridges) to avoid potential delays. The City of Lodi will provide traffic control at the affected locations.
Motorists should especially take note of the Harney Lane closure from May 11 to May 14 because the nearest alternative east-west routes are one mile north (Kettleman Lane) and one mile south (Armstrong Road).
The street closures will allow Union Pacific to removed unused tracks and level remaining rails, resulting in smoother crossings for motorists. The work in Lodi is part of a regional maintenance project by the railroad. |
