Deputy City Manager Jim Krueger announced today he is resigning from the City of Lodi to become treasurer/finance director in Garden City, Idaho. His final day is July 3.
Krueger said family reasons are behind his move. His daughter and two grandchildren live in Idaho.
Krueger was originally hired as Finance Director in May 2004. He was promoted to Deputy City Manager in December 2005, supervising the budget, financial services, human resources and information systems divisions.
"My stay in Lodi has blessed me in many ways," Krueger said, "from working with City Manager King to a City Council that didn't back away from challenges and City employees who displayed their commitment and dedication to the community on a daily basis.
"It's time, however, for me to spend more time with my wife and be closer to my daughter and grandchildren."
City Manager Blair King said he will look for someone to fill Krueger's position on a temporary basis while seeking a more permanent replacement.
King praised Krueger for his dedication and for increasing the transparency of Lodi's finances to the public through highly detailed annual budgets.
"The City Council, the citizens and employees of Lodi owe Jim Krueger a lot for how he's helped the city through some austere times," King said. "He's been committed to making sure the city is financially sound."
