Church Street in downtown Lodi will be closed to through traffic from 9 a.m. to about 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, to provide parking for mourners attending the funeral of John Miller, the California Highway Patrol officer and Lodi resident killed in the line of duty Friday near Livermore.
The funeral, at 11 a.m., will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church.
Church Street will be closed between Lodi Avenue and Lockeford Street, but vehicles will be able to cross Church Street at Elm and Locust streets. Also, parking will not be allowed on Walnut Street from Sacramento to Lee streets, and Locust Street will be off-limits to parking from Church Street to Pleasant Avenue.
Businesses on the affected stretch of Church Street will remain open, but customers will not be allowed to drive to them until the street clears of funeral traffic.
Following church services, a funeral procession will travel south on Church Street, east on Kettleman Lane and south on Beckman Road to Cherokee Memorial Park. Beckman Road also will be closed to through traffic during graveside services for Miller, from Kettleman Lane to Harney Lane. Caltrans will temporarily close the Highway 99 offramps at Kettleman Lane and the Harney Lane exit from northbound Highway 99 during the procession.
