LODI -- Representatives from the U.S. Census Bureau will brief the Lodi Improvement Committee on the upcoming census "dress rehearsal" at 6 p.m., Oct. 2, at the Community Room of the Lodi Police Department, 215 W. Elm St.
The Lodi Improvement Committee will assist the U.S. Census Bureau in what the agency is calling its 2008 Census Dress Rehearsal. San Joaquin County and a nine-county region in North Carolina are the only locations in the country where this practice count will be taken in March 2008, to help the Census Bureau prepare for its official 2010 count.
The U.S. Census Bureau is also seeking part-time and temporary workers for 2007 and early 2008. Jobs pay an average of $12.25 to $14.50 an hour. To learn more about jobs with the U.S. Census Bureau, call 1-866-376-2008. For other information, visit www.census.gov/2010census.
The Lodi Improvement Committee is charged with assisting and advising city officials on property maintenance, neighborhood improvement, historical preservation issues; design and implement programs to reduce blight and foster community pride; work to reduce crime, drugs, and blight in coordinating civil actions against nuisance property owners. Its members are appointed by Lodi's mayor, with concurrence of the City Council.
