The Support Services Division is under the command of Captain Tod Patterson.
Captain Tod Patterson was hired on July 16, 1990. Throughout his tenure at Lodi Police Department, he has worked Patrol and Investigations, with assignments in narcotics investigations, bicycle patrol, and as a Field Training Officer, responsible for training 14 officers in 22 months. In 2002, he promoted to Sergeant over the Field Training Officer program and the Investigations Unit, and in 2009 he promoted to Lieutenant. He is currently overseeing both Support and Operations Divisions within the Lodi Police Department
Since 2006, Captain Patterson has worked as a Recruit Training Officer at Delta College and is an active advocate for training and recruitment for the Lodi Police Department. In this capacity, he has been involved in training every officer hired from the Delta College Administration of Justice POST Academy since 2006.
Captain Patterson has a Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Services Managements from Union Institute and University. Tod is also a graduate of the Los Angeles Police Department West Point Leadership Program and the Peace Officers Standards and Training Executive Leadership Program. University and has received numerous commendations throughout his career with the Lodi Police Department, more specifically the Bronze Star in 2005 for handling an armed suicidal person, and Letters of Commendation for the Every 15 Minutes program, National Night Out, and outstanding performance as a Field Training Officer Coordinator at SJ Delta College. Captain Patterson has also written two City policies, and has been nominated twice for Officer of the Year.
