Communications Center

Communications Centercommunications center

The Communications Center is an operation within the Support Services Division of the Lodi Police Department.  The Communications Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with dispatchers working three twelve-hour shifts a week.  As the primary 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for the city of Lodi, dispatchers are responsible for answering all 9-1-1 calls originating within Lodi.  The dispatcher then determines the nature of the call and then enters the call for dispatch or transfers the call to the proper jurisdiction.

In addition to answering and processing the 9-1-1 calls, Lodi Police Dispatchers are also responsible for incoming emergency and business calls-for-service (including transferring calls to fire and / or emergency medical personnel), as well as dispatching all police personnel.  The Communications Center is equipped with a state of the art computer-aided-dispatch (CAD) system.  This system allows the calls entered by the dispatcher to be sent via computer to the officers on patrol.  This shortens the delay period between the time a call is received and when it is dispatched providing a shorter response time for the police officers.
