REFERENCE: : California Government Code §12945.

SECTION 1: PURPOSE

To provide a leave of absence without pay for a period of up to four months for the period of disability on account of pregnancy, childbirth or a related medical condition.

SECTION 2: USE OF LEAVE BALANCES

An employee on pregnancy disability leave may use any accrued vacation, sick or other leave in order to receive regular compensation benefits during the absence.

SECTION 3: RELATION TO LEAVE OF ABSENCE AND FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE

Pregnancy disability leave is considered in conjunction with Leave of Absence policy and procedure and the Family Medical Leave policy. The provisions of the Leave of Absence policy and procedure are applicable to Pregnancy Disability Leave. Pregnancy Disability Leave may be taken in conjunction with or in addition to Family Medical Leave.
