Community Room Rental
The Lodi Public Library rents its Bud Sullivan Community Room to community groups and organizations. The following policy describes and explains its usage.
MEETING ROOM USE POLICY
*Adopted by Library Board of Trustees on September 15, 1997,
Amended November 9, 1998, October 18, 1999, October 21, 2002 and January 20, 2005.
- As an institution of education for democratic living, the library encourages the use of the community room for educational, cultural, and community related meetings, programs and activities.
- Non-profit and civic organizations, for-profit organizations, schools and government agencies offering meetings, programs or activities of educational, cultural or community interest may use the meeting room free of charge for meetings that are open to the general public, for which no admission fee is charged and at which no soliciting or selling is done.
- Non-profit and civic organizations, for-profit organizations, schools and governmental agencies may use the meeting room for a fee (set forth in the rules) for meetings that are closed to the general public, for which an admission fee or registration is charged or at which soliciting or selling takes place.
- The community room is available on a first come, first served basis, to those completing the application process.
- To allow for the broadest possible use of the community room, regular meetings of any group at the library may be prohibited if they tend to curtail other usage.
- Meetings inciting the attendees to riot or that advocate the commissions of a crime or other illegal act are not permitted.
- The library, Library Board of Trustees, the City of Lodi and its employees neither endorse, oppose, nor advocate the viewpoints of meetings or meeting room users.
- The Friends of Lodi Library and the Lodi Public Library Foundation are exempt from restrictions limiting usage and fees charged. Events sponsored by the library, the Friends of Lodi Library or the Lodi Public Library Foundation are exempt from restrictions limiting usage or exchange of monies.
- The fee for community room use may be waived or adjusted according to the discretion of the Library Service Director providing the usage meets the general intent of this policy.
The Library Board of Trustees reserves the right to amend this policy from time to time.
