Become a Volunteer Literacy Tutor!

Make a difference in someone's life...volunteer as a literacy tutor with Adult Literacy Services at Lodi Public Library. The program trains volunteer tutors to help adult learners improve reading, writing and other basic literacy skills. Ongoing support for tutors is provided through in-services , staff support, and tutor mentoring.

Requirements for tutors include:

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Read and speak English proficiently.
  • Complete an 8-hour workshop.
  • Have 2 to 4 hours per week to devote to the program.

Tutors and clients meet once or twice a week at a place and time convenient for both. The tutoring may take place at the library or in any public location such as a senior center, a church, etc.

Give the gift of reading and help others to build a better future.
