Overview:

City – Lodi is located 35 miles south of Sacramento and 90 miles east of San Francisco in San Joaquin County. The City limit encompasses 13.15 square miles which includes the Cities waste water plant which is located several miles west of the City limits.For more information about Lodi click HERE.

A 2005 estimate places the population at 62,133 though the 2000 census places the population at 56,999. The 2000 census also shows that there were 20,692 households.

The average household size is 2.71 and the average family is 3.25. The median income for a household is $39,570 and the median family income is $47,020. For more information click on HERE.

Department- The Department covers the City from 4 fire stations. Fire Station 1 is located in the downtown area. This station is the home of Engine 1 (2031), Truck 1 (2051), Squad 1 (2071*) and Battalion Chief 1(2011). Fire Station 2 is located on the eastside of Lodi. It has Engine 2 (2032) and the HazMat 1. (2081*). Fire Station 3 is located in the southwest section of town and is the home of Engine 3(2033). The newest station is in the northwest section of town, Station 4. It houses Engine 4(2034) and the Mobile Operations Center (2082*+).

*Denotes a unit that is staffed only when it is needed using personnel from another unit.

+ This unit is used by the Fire and Police Departments.

During the 05/06 Fiscal year the Department responded to 4,447 calls for assistance. These are further broken down as follows:

The Department headed by Fire Chief Pretz. Underneath him are two divisions, Fire/Life Safety, Operations and the Administrative Secretary.

Fire/Life, also known as Prevention, is staffed by Interim Fire Marshall Person. Below him are the Fire Inspector and Permit Technician.

The second division, Operations, is lead by Division Chief Donnelly. Below him are the three “line” Battalion Chiefs, “line” personnel along with the Training Battalion Chief.
