Blair King is the administrative head of Lodi government. He was appointed City Manager effective Jan. 24, 2005, by the City Council.
King directs the daily operations of Lodi government, prepares and administers the municipal budget and implements the policies established by the City Council.
Before coming to Lodi, King was Milpitas' assistant city manager for four years. He previously served as City Manager in Half Moon Bay, Imperial Beach and Soledad.
King is a native of South Korea who was living in an orphanage when he was adopted at age 3 by a California couple. King grew up in rural Madera County and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Fresno State.
Since becoming City Manager, King's priorities have been to stabilize and improve the city's finances.
King is responsible for:
- Overseeing all department heads
- Attending all City Council meetings
- Reviewing and approving all City Council meeting agendas and making policy recommendations to the City Council
- Coordinating communications to the public
- Partnering with the Lodi Unified School District to support and encourage ongoing joint facilities use
- Exploring new revenue sources to include business attractions, grants and fees
- Coordinating surveys and performance measures
- Promoting and coordinating special events
