Events for our 100th anniversary are still being planned and announced.  Here's what we have planned thus far to celebrate our one-hundredth birthday.

January

4th – City Council Kickoff Meeting

Participate in the first of many Centennial events -- a city council meeting that will highlight the year's plans and honor our 100th birthday.

February

7th – Planting The First Tree

Be a part of history as the first of one hundred cork oak trees are planted at 8:00 a.m. in front of the Carnegie Forum building.

March

1st - 100 Centennial Roses at Hutchins Street Square

In recognition of the City of Lodi’s centennial anniversary, the Hutchins Street Square Foundation Board will plant 100 red roses on the Square, Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at 4 p.m.

11th – Lodi Sister City Centennial Crab Feed

The Lodi Sister City Centennial Crab Feed was held on March 11, 2006 at the JCL Hall.  More than 200 people were in attendance for this first ever event and a good time was had by all!

22nd – City Hall Open House

City Hall invites the public to stop by and find out just how far we’ve come in the last 100 years.

On Wednesday, March 22 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. an Open House will be held at City Hall, 221 West Pine Street, as well as off-site facilities.

April

1st – Arbor Day Celebration

Witness or help with the planting of ninety-eight cork oak trees.

29th – Lodi Boys & Girls Club Annual Auction Dinner

This annual dinner will incorporate the City's Centennial theme.

May

26th - 29th – Head West Wall Dogs!

Wall Dogs mural painting event in downtown Lodi; 100 artists from around the United States will paint nine wall murals in downtown Lodi.

The Wall Dogs Mural Project is designed to promote Lodi and its surrounding agricultural community. The murals will capture the rich heritage of Lodi as a charming small town destination and a leader in the wine industry.

Mural project leaders will create a full-color rendering of their mural, which will be auctioned off on the final night of the event. This will be the first Wall Dogs event west of the Rockies.

Wine and Art Stroll27th - "Paint the Town" Wine and Art Stroll

Lodi's "Paint the Town" Wine and Art Stroll brings together 40 local wineries and over 100 artists from throughout the United States to fill the streets with festivity, celebrating its 100th birthday.

From 6pm to 9pm, Strollers will enjoy tastings of Lodi's finest wines, poured from inside many of downtown's boutique shops and restaurants.  Guests can savor hors d'oeuvres and shop special sales offered by businesses and eateries, or sip their wine in the many outdoor wine gardens while listening to the sounds of strolling musicians and viewing the colorful transformation of downtown.

Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.

28th - Wall Dogs Fundraiser Buffet Dinner

Catered by A Touch of Mesquite, come to Kirst Hall (at Hutchins Street Square) to enjoy great food, live entertainment, and the auctioning of original Walldog mural designs.

June 2-4 – Art on the Square

Art on the Square has been the Lodi Arts Commission's signature cultural event for the last five years, enlivening the scenic grounds of Hutchins Street Square -- the city’s Community and Conference Center -- during the first weekend of June.

Each summer thousands of enthusiastic fairgoers gather for this spectacular event. The unique and large selection of fine, handcrafted work includes ceramics, fiber, glasswork, graphics, jewelry, leather, mixed media painting, photography, sculpture, and wood. In addition to the displays of artists from across the State, wine tasting, live entertainment, and a host of free kids’ activities round out the event’s offerings.

This event, at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, will showcase private and public services offered in Lodi.

5th – The Centennial of Sports

The LOEL Center and Gardens will be holding an exciting Casinio Night fundraising event filled with dancing, food, and live entertainment.

The theme of the event highlights the past one-hundred years of Lodi sports and its local athletes.

19th – A Heritage Celebration

Ceremonies begin at the historic Lodi Train Depot at 10:00am and last throughout the afternoon with this old-fashioned look at Lodi's past.

Attractions include a barbershop quartet, vintage steam engine train, photograph exhibit, car show, Trolley Car tours of Lodi, silent movies, and Victorian High Tea.

20th - Lodi Community Band Concert

Families are encouraged to picnic on the lawn of Hutchins Street Square this evening for a live concert featuring outstanding visiting entertainers.

The music starts at 6:00 pm and admission is free!

21st – Heritage Golf Tournament

Come to the Woodbridge Golf and Country Club for an afternoon round of golf.  The event starts at 11:30 and is $85 per person. 

Your entry includes green fees, golf cart, continental breakfast and a gourmet lunch, great goody bags, and outstanding prizes.

If that weren't enough, there are three chances to win three brand-new cars donated by Geweke Automotive.

“Paint Lodi” Celebrating Lodi’s Centennial through Art

The Knowlton Gallery will celebrate Lodi’s Centennial with a plein air painting event and art exhibition featuring 24 top painters and photographers, from Fresno to Nevada City. Artists will fan out through Lodi’s historic downtown to capture images from Lodi’s famed mission-style arch, constructed in 1905, to the A & W Root Beer stand, operating at 216 E. Lodi Avenue since 1953 (A & W Root Beer originated in Lodi in 1919).

Artists include Ray Roberts (Angels Camp), Kathleen Dunphy (Murphy’s), Gil Dellinger (Stockton), Jeannie Vodden (Jackson), Marilyn Rose (Nevada City), Charles Waldman (Sonora), Robin Gay McCline (Fresno), Chella (Modesto), Roman Loranc (Modesto), and Clark Mitchell (Cotati), among others. Plein air artists will be painting/photographing outdoors Friday through Sunday, August 25 – 27. The show opens Friday, September 1, with a reception featuring Lodi-Woodbridge appellation wines, from 6 – 9 pm.

14th through 17th – Lodi Grape Festival

This year's Grape Festival will incorporate the Centennial theme, and don't forget Kiddies Parade on the 16th.

October

21st - Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest at the Chardonnay Hall at the Grape Festival Grounds.

21st and 22nd - California State Disc Dog Championship

Hutchins Street Square will host the California State Disc Dog Championship.  Disc (Frisbee) dog teams from all over California will compete for the title of “California State Disc Dog Champion”.  From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

November

November is Wine Month (currently in conceptual stage).

29th – Winterfest Begins

Downtown Lodi is decorated for the Holiday Season by participating merchants that enter the window display and lighting contests.  Free carriage rides and carolers stroll the streets of downtown and children can take their photos with Santa for $5.00 each.

This event starts on November 29th and ends on December 16th.

6th – Closing Ceremonies

Be a part of the planting of the final cork oak tree.  The City Council reorganization meeting starts at 7:00 p.m., with the Community Celebration to begin at 8 at Kirst Hall in Hutchins Street Square.

7th – Lodi Centennial Parade of Lights “Celebrating 100 Years”

A city wide event which invites about 20,00 people to downtown to come and gaze at 100 lighted floats submitted by local businesses, service groups and citizens.
